Open NPEX account

How do I open an NPEX account?2020-06-09T14:04:20+02:00

Complete the online application form via 'Open Account'. After we have checked your details, we will send you an opening email with your username and a password letter. With these login details you can log in to 'My NPEX'. Your NPEX account is activated when you have made a deposit from your contra account for identification purposes.

Are there any fees associated with opening an NPEX account?2020-06-06T16:24:32+02:00

No, opening an NPEX account is free.

Why does NPEX ask for a copy of identification?2020-06-06T16:24:46+02:00

NPEX is a financial institution. This means that NPEX needs a copy of your passport (or identity card) to identify you. Based on your name, we can determine whether your contra account at your bank belongs to you when you make the identification deposit.

What is a contra account?2020-06-06T16:24:52+02:00

The contra account is a checking account (not a savings account) with a European bank that is linked to your NPEX account. Withdrawals from your NPEX account can only be transferred to this fixed contra account at your bank.

The name of your contra account must be identical to that of your NPEX account. You specify the contra account when registering with NPEX. You can later make a deposit from an account other than your contra account if the name on this account exactly matches the name on the NPEX account.

NPEX uses so-called derived identification.

Can anyone open an NPEX account?2021-07-22T11:33:23+02:00

In order to open an NPEX account, your application must comply with the applicable laws and regulations in the field of money laundering and terrorist financing. We therefore require, among other things, a valid copy of your ID and a checking account in your name at a bank in the European Union.

Persons who are minors must submit a separate statement. This can be requested from the NPEX Service Desk tel. 070-385 15 30, on working days from 08:30 AM to 17:30 PM, e-mail: [email protected].

If you live abroad, you can request a registration form from the NPEX Service Desk. If you are a US person or may be subject to tax in America, you unfortunately cannot open an NPEX account. You are a US person if one or more of the following situations apply to you: you live in America, you work in America, you have an American passport, you were born in America, you periodically transfer money to America, you has an American residential, postal address or telephone number, you have an authorized representative with an American address, you have a per address (P/A) in America.

Why do I need to deposit money to open an NPEX account?2020-06-06T16:25:07+02:00

NPEX is obliged under the Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing (Prevention) Act (Wwft) to determine the identity of all its customers. NPEX uses derived identification. Derivative identification means that you do not have to visit NPEX in person to apply for an NPEX account. NPEX determines your identity on the basis of information that we receive from your bank when you make a deposit from one of your existing bank accounts to your NPEX account (identification deposit). NPEX also asks you to email or send a copy of a valid proof of identity. We compare this information with the information you provided to us when opening your account. If these details match exactly, NPEX has established your identity.

Can a minor open and maintain an NPEX account?2022-07-25T09:37:42+02:00

Minors are not allowed to place orders independently. To open an account, minors must submit a 'NPEX child account' form together with their legal representative(s). This form can be requested from the NPEX Service Desk tel. 070-385 15 30, on working days from 08.30-17.30 uur, E-mail: [email protected].

The legal representatives of the minor in question must invest the minor's assets effectively. By opening an 'NPEX child account' on behalf of and for the account and risk of the minor, the legal representative expressly states that he is fully aware of the risks and consequences associated with investing in financial instruments listed on NPEX. .

When opening a 'NPEX child account', we request a copy of proof of identity (identity card or passport) of the minor and the legal representative(s). Derivative identification must also be made via a transfer to the NPEX account from the contra account (of the minor) specified by you. This involves checking whether the ascription of both accounts corresponds.

Can I also register if I live abroad or if I do not have a Dutch identity document?2020-06-09T14:07:01+02:00

Yes, in this case please contact the NPEX Service Desk: tel. +3170-385 15 30, on working days from 08.30-17.30 uur, or by email: [email protected] who will send you a registration form. If you do not have a Dutch identity document, you must submit an official document showing your Tax Identification Number (TIN).

Investing on NPEX

What is the intrinsic value of a security?2020-06-06T16:08:32+02:00

The intrinsic value of a security is roughly calculated by dividing the fund's own assets by the number of securities. It should be noted that funds can determine the intrinsic value in a different way. With open-end funds, the intrinsic value is regularly recalculated by the fund and published (via NPEX), because the number of securities and therefore the equity can continuously change. Assets are also often bought and sold within open-end funds, meaning that the equity and therefore the intrinsic value can fluctuate on a daily basis. For the other funds, the intrinsic value is often calculated by the fund based on periodic financial reporting and revaluation of the so-called 'underlying value'.

How can I monitor the performance of my securities?2020-07-15T10:41:48+02:00

NPEX refers, where possible, to the website of the company/fund for financial data. Furthermore, for securities traded on the NPEX stock exchange, you can consult the offer and transaction history. These show you the current supply and an overview of the securities that are traded and at what price. You can find the offer and the transaction history on the listing information page under 'Offer'.

How is the price of an 'open-end' fund determined?2020-06-06T16:08:47+02:00

For securities in an 'open-end' fund, the price is determined by the net asset value on the execution date. This is therefore not known in advance.

How do I know what to invest in?2020-06-06T16:07:51+02:00

NPEX is a trading platform and does not provide advice. You must make your own choice based on the information that the issuing institutions make available and/or the advice of your asset advisor(s).

Why do you see the text: 'Attention! you invest outside AFM supervision. No prospectus requirement for this activity?2020-06-06T15:51:48+02:00

Investment offers to the public must in principle be made on the basis of a prospectus approved by the AFM. There are some statutory exemptions from this prospectus obligation. For example, if the offer remains below the limit of €5 million, the prospectus does not have to be approved by the AFM. The idea behind this is that these costs should be lower when the amount of the issue is relatively low, as is the case with issues by SMEs. Because NPEX attaches great importance to investor protection, NPEX requires companies that issue securities via NPEX to provide an information document that is comparable in terms of information to a prospectus as approved. We call this a prospectus.

Is my money safe with NPEX?2023-08-21T17:33:56+02:00

Extension of LEI not mandatory
Under MiFID II, based on current insights, you are not obliged to renew your LEI. If you decide not to renew the LEI, it will be given the 'expired' status, but the LEI will remain linked to your organization as long as the organization continues to exist. You can continue to carry out securities transactions even with an 'expired' LEI.
Annual renewal of your LEI is therefore not mandatory when you invest via NPEX, because we do not offer products for which renewal is necessary.

European regulations

The European MiFIR regulation (EU/3/2018) came into effect on January 600, 2014. This regulation relates, among other things, to the reporting of securities transactions. All financial institutions must record business transactions in a transaction register on behalf of the supervisors, the Netherlands Authority for the Financial Markets and the Dutch Central Bank. NPEX has also been obliged to do this since January 3, 2018. Part of the transaction register is the LEI (Legal Entity Identifier). An LEI is a unique number for identifying companies worldwide. If you invest with NPEX through a business account, you must have an LEI. NPEX therefore requests that you provide us with your LEI so that you can (continue to) invest and buy and sell investments via NPEX. When do you apply for an LEI?
