BOB Car Wash

There are approximately 7,9 million cars on the road in the Netherlands. On average, a car is washed 8,4 times a year. Together, 66,2 million washes are carried out in the Netherlands. In the Netherlands, approximately 35% of the number of washes takes place in car washes. And there is still a lot to be gained there. Car washing is increasingly shifting from a 'necessary wash' to a lifestyle. Owning and maintaining a car offers more than just a means of transport: a car says something about who you are. And you are careful with that.

About BOB Car Wash

BOB Autowas BV is a sustainable and social company. On a Saturday, BOB Autowas BV washes around 2000 cars. This is currently 14% more than last year. Its goal is to remain a progressive and market-leading party in the fast-growing car wash industry. The ambition is to realize a BOB car wash branch in all major cities in the Netherlands.

In addition, it is expanding its services, working with the best equipment in the technical operational field and ensuring a fast, clean and friendly 'car wash' experience with visible passion by its committed and customer-oriented employees.

Social entrepreneurship

BOB Autowas is a social enterprise. “We also hire people who are disadvantaged in the labor market. By investing in them you create loyal and friendly employees. That is our strength,” said Mark de Graaf, CEO BOB Autowas BV

Sustainability

Worldwide, BOB Autowas is at the basis of many sustainable innovations in the automotive industry, including:

  • a self-developed biological water recycling system
  • interior jobs for a full service cleaning concept
  • our so-called 'cleaning street'
  • various technical inventions for car wash jobs in which sustainability of our services is the starting point

By consolidating our market leadership, we can continue to work on our innovations and tailor our services even better to the needs of our customers and trends.

Growth

BOB Autowas BV has been active on the domestic and foreign markets since 2001. With more than 20 branches throughout the BOB group, we are the market leader in an industry that is rapidly developing. Based on our philosophy, we want to be distinctive with our products and services. That is why we like to work with the best people, the most advanced machines and we look for top locations that allow us to serve our customers perfectly.

Various investments have been made in recent years to enable BOB Autowas to grow even further as an organization. For example, we have founded the BOB Academy, which will formally start on September 1, in which we train and further train our employees. We also invest a lot in making our car washes more sustainable. Each car wash is equipped with a high-tech water recycling system that allows us to save 80% on our water use.

Our turnover has been on an upward trend for years, with 10% growth in 2015 and 12% in 2016 respectively.

Competition

Car washing is strongly locally oriented. The competition often concerns smaller local companies with a lower degree of organization than BOB Autowas. Regionally, these are a number of strong players in the Netherlands, who wash cars in a very professional manner. The Loogman group and the Anac group are the largest players in this. Loogman operates mainly in the Amsterdam region and Anac has branches mainly in the south of the country and in Belgium.

Markt

The car wash market is in a pioneering phase worldwide. There has been little or no chain formation and most car washes are owned and operated by private individuals. While professionalization and economies of scale have yielded enormous benefits in other industries, this has not yet happened in this industry. All chain formation is created by passionate entrepreneurs building passionate teams. Teams of employees and managers with a strong sense of responsibility, great commitment and a sense of ownership.

Success factors

BOB Autowas occupies a strong competitive position through continuous innovation. BOB Autowas has a large international network (International Carwash Association and Carwash Enhancement Group) which gives us full access to the success factors of the most successful car wash operators in the world. In addition, BOB Autowas has strongly focused on loyalty and attention to the customer in recent years.

These factors have contributed to our growth being above average in the automotive industry. Further expansion of our loyalty programs, training programs for our employees and a strong customer-oriented approach contribute to increasing our success.
