Sea freight for flowers In the flower sector - worldwide - almost all transport takes place in boxes, in which 100-300 stems of flowers are transported dry by air freight. Production countries include Kenya, Ethiopia, Colombia and Ecuador. During air freight transport, the flowers dry out for a number of days and mold can develop, which means that many flowers do not arrive properly at the consumer. The flower sector has been looking for a better solution with sea freight for years, but the duration of the journey, sometimes 3-4 weeks, has made this virtually impossible until now. PerfoTec has - after 3 years of development - definitively solved this problem: roses can remain of excellent quality for 4-5 weeks at low temperatures with the patented PerfoTec films! This allows the flowers (at least 1 billion export boxes per year!) to be sent via sea freight, with significantly lower costs and much lower CO2 emissions.
