Producer De Tocht BV issues 8,5% bonds with a term of 20 months

  • Issuance of a bond loan with a term of 20 months and an annual interest of 8,5% to finance the musical project De Tocht in Leeuwarden;
  • The musical about the Tour of Tours is one of the most spectacular theater projects in preparation in the Netherlands;
  • Accommodation De Tocht in a special skating/musical theater in Leeuwarden with ingenious projection and lighting technology, meteorological special effects, a theater hall for almost 1.500 musical visitors and an immense 360 degree ice floor.

LEEUWARDEN – De Tocht BV, producer of the spectacle musical about The Elfstedentocht, has issued bonds via the NPEX stock exchange for an amount of at least €500.000, of which more than €200.000 has already been subscribed in a short time. In total, bonds are available for a maximum of €1,9 million in subscriptions. The proceeds from the loan will be used for one of the largest theater productions in the Netherlands. Bondholders receive 8,5% interest annually and per bond. The loan has a term of 20 months.

The issuance of bonds for the musical De Tocht is part of a broader financing package totaling just under €8,1 million, in which nine shareholders participate for a total of €2,5 million. One of the shareholders is theater producer Stardust International, founded by former journalist Henk van der Meijden.

Musical De Tocht previously issued bonds in 2021, but the corona pandemic threw a spanner in the works, causing the then proposition on NPEX to be withdrawn. The issue has now restarted and investments can still be made via the NPEX platform.

De Tocht will premiere in Leeuwarden on October 1, 2023 in a theater specially built by Friso Bouwgroep. The musical tells the story of five skating friends who want to reach the finish line on the Bonkevaart together. The story takes place in the present day and is about the Elfstedentocht that the whole of the Netherlands has been waiting for for more than 25 years. An experienced creative team including director Eddy Habbema has written the script and music for the musical.

According to Hans Staal, business director of De Tocht BV, the epic about the hero's journey appeals to the imagination of 17 million Dutch people. “The Eleven Cities Tour is not just for the Frisians, they have grown it into a national event that every Dutch person is proud of. It connects us all. Plenty of tickets are being purchased in every province, the counter now stands at 21.000,” says Staal.

Preparations for Musical De Tocht are currently in full swing. For example, the cast started skating training last month and construction work for the theater started on the grounds of Friso Bouwgroep, located a few hundred meters from the boarding point of the real Elfstedentocht.
The Tour is an 'open-ended musical' whose end date has not been set and, according to Staal, requires an occupancy of 42,5% in the first year to be the first to repay the bond loan via the NPEX stock exchange.

The organization receives full support from the municipality of Leeuwarden, the cultural capital of Europe in 2018, and the province of Friesland.
